[October 11th] [Original] Hide-and-seek
Title: Hide-and-seek
Day/Theme: October 11: I know how furiously your heart is beating
Series: Original (Diana and Belle)
Character/Pairing: Jonathan/Evan
Rating: PG-13
Author's Note: In a world in which it is nice to hide.
Hide-and-seek in the castle was made infinitely more entertaining by the stable gates that lay behind the solid stone doors. Diana and Belle had refused to play today, so it was only Evan to hide, and Jonathan to seek.
Evan slipped through one of the many marble doorways, enjoying the feeling of the currents of time brushing against his wings. The world he had chosen was peaceful, a prehistoric paradise with a lush cave he had stumbled upon the last time he had sought solitude.
He settled into the cave, breathing in the delicate floral scent in the air and nestling into the moss to wait.
The tension kept him awake, even though he wanted to nap. The excitement and potential of being caught would not allow him to rest. Without warning, he heard a snap of a stick and a hiss of surprise. He held perfectly still, barely breathing, but he knew he was found.
“Caught you!” Jonathan crowed, pulling Evan from his hiding place. Evan laughed, for he was rarely a sore loser.
“How did you find me?” Evan asked, only a trace of sulking in his tone.
“It’s simple. I know your heart is beating faster than the pace of the world. I just listened at the door for the rhythm,” Jonathan explained, bending to kiss him. And the way it made him feel gave him no reason to hide anymore.
