[Aug. 5] [Suikoden III] Kuput Forest

Title: Kuput Forest
Day/Theme: Aug. 5, 2013 "in the hand of the forest"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Yun
Rating: G

Yun has never left Kuput Forest, but it has never felt like she's been missing anything either. As far as she can tell, there aren't many women in their village who feel that way and the others don't even share her advantage of being able to know or "see" things that lie beyond the forest's bounds. There are some who remember the outside from before the village was sealed though. Great-Auntie, for instance, who fought alongside the Flame Champion in her youth.

Anyway, if there's a place for you to be limited to, Kuput Forest is hardly a bad choice. First off, there's their village, magically shielded in the heart of the woods, and if you set out walking, whatever direction you head in, within an hour's distance the sheer number and variety of things you can see and experience is dazzling. There are rivers- small ones compared to the waterways that are said to cut through the mountains and across Harmonia, but Yun is small herself, what does this bother her?- and the lake, there are animals by the multitude if you are quiet and careful and know where to look (foxes, deer, mice, squirrels, boar, and all number of birds and insects), and myriads of plants in all varieties from moss to ferns to flower to trees (and they don't take nearly as much finesse to enjoy as the animals).

The forest is an entire world unto itself. But Yun sees things. Yun knows. The outside needs them, perhaps more than they need the outside.
