[Mar. 31] [The Hunger Games] On Your Lips
Title: On Your Lips
Day/Theme: March 31, 2013 "the curves of your lips rewrite history"
Series: The Hunger Games
Character/Pairing: Mags, OC District 1 victor
Rating: PG
"I'll think of something," Jack says.
I don't like the sound of that, although I can't say precisely why. Maybe because a part of Jack that I've never met- but have seen (swinging his fists; spitting out teeth)- is that part that is willing to do anything. Absolutely anything.
Just because you're willing to do anything, though, doesn't mean it will work.
I think that Jack would promise to tear this whole city down if he thought that would accomplish this one little thing. But he couldn't. He would die trying. He would never run out of opponents. There would never be a ladder dropped down to him to rescue him from the arena of life. He could fight and struggle all he liked until he eventually died.
And all I want is not to see that.
If we ask for more, we're going to exchange what we have for nothing. I'm just sure. I have this sinking feeling, like a weight slowly sinking a baited hook below the surface. ...Even if they would let me, I wouldn't want to leave Four anyway. ...Does Jack feel differently? Would he come to live with me?
"I'm not asking for this, Jack," I respond at length. I'm not sure what he'll say if I just out and tell him "I don't want you to die."
"I know," he answers. "You don't need to ask."
