“Why do you call it that?”

“She. Boats are female. I named her after the couple that owned the docks. Francis and Elena. They both passed on a few years ago.”

“That’s sad,” Belle said, gazing out over the bay. “Did they go peacefully?”

“The way only sailors at sea can,” Diana replied cryptically.

“Let’s go sailing,” she said, changing the subject abruptly and striding away towards the Francis Elena. Belle stepped back, startled.

“I thought we were just going to look at it… her… not actually go out in the water,” Belle said, struggling to regain her composure and failing.

“What’s wrong? You’re not afraid to fly on your own wings, but you’re scared to go out in a boat?” Diana said, looking back at her in amusement.

“Nature gave me wings, not… not fins. I have an affinity for air, not water,” Belle countered, haughtily.

“You have an affinity for ice, that’s close enough. It’s not even your opposite element. If I can handle it, you can,” Diana challenged, hands on her hips, her demonic wings flapping a bit in the breeze.

“I don’t know,” Belle said weakly.

“Come on, don’t worry. I won’t splash you too much.” Diana laughed at Belle’s pained expression and pulled her down the pier.
