Homura has seen Madoka transform into a magic girl many times. The sight is bittersweet: it is a reminder to Homura of happier times with Madoka, but it is also a sign she failed.

Homura has also seen Madoka transform into a witch far too many times. This time, Homura can’t hold back tears as the ugliest incarnation of Gretchen threatens to destroy the world.

Homura doesn’t expect Madoka’s second transformation into a goddess. It is exquisite, transcendent, everything a goddess of hope should be.
