[Dec. 29] [Tales of Legendia] Baking Bliss
Title: Baking Bliss
Day/Theme: Dec. 29, 2012 "weapons of warmth"
Series: Tales of Legendia
Character/Pairing: Shirley and Senel's daughter (Rose, because
inkpool used this name and I liked it so much), Shirley/Senel, Norma, Thyra, etc.
Rating: G
Author's comment: 3 drabbles on a theme.
Mama was teaching Rose how to bake. It seemed like all the grown-ups Rose knew could bake. Auntie Norma made super sugary sweets and Uncle Will made shepherd's pie and Aunt Mimi was apparently so amazing that she was called a 'wonder baker.' Auntie Norma told Rose that baked goods were amazing not just because they tasted so wonderful, or because they were so fun to make (and especially to decorate when they were cakes or cookies), but because they could be "the perfect route into the heart of the man- or woman-" (and there she winked) of your choice!"
---
Mama and Daddy liked to bake bread together. Rose would stand up on a chair so that she could see over the counter and watch them kneed the dough together. Then she had to be very quiet when they covered it with a towel and set aside so that it would rise properly.
Usually Daddy was his serious self about this, but sometimes he felt like being funny and teasing "his girls," who would inevitably not want to laugh too loudly and ruin their efforts thus far.
What was the worst was when he would tickle. That just wasn't fair!
---
Everything baked tasted best when it was warm. That was why Rose thought that she and Mama shouldn't bake the peach pie Mama was thinking of making for Aunt Thyra too far ahead. Actually, Rose thought, it would be best if they waited until she wasn't just close to Werites Beacon, but until she was here and then they could have the fun of baking it together, all three of them.
Aunt Thyra could be stern, particularly where Daddy was involved, but when she really started to get into an activity, she always forgot the things she hated and smiled.
