[Dec. 9] [Fullmetal Alchemist] Labels
Title: Labels
Day/Theme: Dec. 9, 2012 "stayed in me as an epithet"
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
Character/Pairing: Scar
Rating: PG
He was honest, they said.
When there was a fight between boys in his class during lunch, the teacher knew his account could be counted upon to tell the most impartial version of the truth a child could manage.
He was pleased to be accounted this level of trust. He wanted to be an upstanding man. A priest, maybe. The sort of person that would be respected (and would things that would make him worthy of that respect). Honesty was just one step on that path.
He was serious, they said.
It wasn't as if he never did anything silly or off the cuff. He was just a quiet sort of child. Like his older brother, he enjoyed reading and sketching and thinking by himself.
Being serious was another step toward the man he wanted to be. There was a time for everything, fun included, but better, when there was no particular reason for levity, to be stern. It suited his nature just fine.
And then he was a killer, but that didn't mean he stopped being any of those things he had taken to heart before. He was still honest. He was still serious.
"Why are you here?" the alchemist asked him.
And then he was a killer, but that didn't mean he stopped being any of those things he had taken to heart before. He was still honest. He was still serious.
"Why are you here?" the alchemist asked him.
"I've come to kill you," he said, with no unnecessary artifice.
