They both stared each other in amazement, Leyn's hands still holding onto Kay's.

It was utterly unbelievable. The bed was soaked in blood once more but neither of them cared. For life had changed once more. Kayrenn merely lay there, a hand on each part of him which was like it had been. Before. Before the most frightening period of his life. The test to their sanity and Leyn's love, which had never once wavered.

Neither spoke for long long moments. The fire crackled merrily in the grate. The skies poured water outside. Dim light seeped into the room, but all was bathed with the yellow light of the fire, even the shadows lively.

So different from last time, it was. That had been winter, but this was early summer. Yet the time of the year was still chilly, inside a castle.

”I don't believe it,” Kayrenn finally uttered. He dared barely breathe. It was all just so... He could not believe it was really true. That he was his old self again. Even when he had accepted his fate, his new body, it had never felt truly his own. In the preceding weeks, he had been slipping. As his hands patted the now flat contours of his chest, he did have regret. He sniffed as he realized that his deep connection, one of them anyway, to his daughter Nieve was severed. Back in his old body, he had no way to feed her. He could only hope she knew him, or there would be trouble. ”I cannot feed Nieve anymore.

The sheets rustled and Leyn pressed against him, hugging him with one arm. ”Do you regret being the way you've ached to be for the time you were a woman?” Kay's husband asked.

”I cannot tell,” Kay sighed, undecided. Then he moved and grimaced. ”What I do know is that I want out of this bed. Hate the way these sheets feels.” He shifted away from the dampness, the blood-soaked sheets clinging to his skin. He felt a bit sick.

”I am in agreement with you, Kay” Leyn said.

They slipped away from the bed and embraced. Nieve continued sleeping in her cot, the girl had great talent for sleeping through anything. They often joked how she would sleep through a raging storm, and she had, actually.

Kayrenn reveled the feeling of getting closer to Leyn when they embraced than he had in the past two years. He could not believe it had been almost two years.

“I'm me again,” he said, voice hushed, as his male body pressed against his husband's maleness. He was so relieved, a great weight lifted off his shoulders. As he turned his head to watch the sleeping form of his red-headed daughter, he knew that he would regret some things, when he had had the time to thing, but the pang of remorse was very fleeting. Just a brush.

“You always were, to me,” Leyn said, tilting Kayrenn's head up into a kiss. “But I also know exactly what you mean.

Then, once more, silence reigned once more as their lips met.
