[Nov 14th] [original] Death Becomes Her

Title: Death Becomes Her
Day/Theme: 14. so young to be fighting so many
Series: My original post-apocalyptic-steampunk'ish-vampire story
Character/Pairing: Edith Schwartz
Rating: G

She knew that she was too young to have to bear such a burden, such a responsibility. But when was one not too young? She still had too many ideals, but was not idealistic. At least that was what she told herself. She had seen a lover betray another. Even when she did not know the reason, nothing justified it. Nothing ever would justify betrayal leading into death.

Now... she herself was death personified. A dark energy, a deadly energy shimmering under the skin of her hands. Ready to strike out when she wished. Sometimes, she wished her gift had never been woken. Slumbering was the best way that she liked it as being. Not awake, threatening even those whom she wished no harm towards. She had not yet robbed anyone she liked of their life, but she was sure that it would be only a matter of time.

She had gone from being one symbol into becoming another. She had been the burden of her mother, as outsiders saw it, her memory and reminder of mortality. After her mother's death, she had become vengeance, mortality made flesh.

Young as she was, she was facing most of the world as her opponents, whether she wanted to or not.
