Kayrenn had never paid much attention to his body before he was changed. He had woken up from a content slumber to feeling his body twisting, contorting, bleeding, changing through a white hot agony. The bloody metamorphosis he had lived through, when at the time he had felt like he would die, had only left him changed, not dead, as he'd feared, had left him panting, gasping for desperate breath.

But, as he had lain in the blood-soaked sheets, when the pain was ebbing, he had noticed the changes. They had horrified him. Refusing to get out of the bed, or let himself to be seen, he had all but thrown his husband out.

Huddling under the covers, he stretched out his limbs, getting the feel of them. But it was other parts which made him break into a cold sweat. He was emasculated, robbed of what had made him who he was, well, partly. Reaching out, he felt at his bloody, tender flesh, ripped and moulded anew. Also, something... something new on his chest.

He wept, realizing that who he was had been changed, and might never be restored to what had been.
