[August 1] [The Hunger Games] A Touch of Gold
Title: A Touch of Gold
Day/Theme: August 1/my one preparation for the rich, noisy, and functioning madness
Series: The Hunger Games
Character/Pairing: Cinna
Rating: T
Cinna drew the line of gold eyeliner carefully. You had to shine in the Capitol, at least a little, or there was no future for you. It was by judicious use of glamor and showing what he had to of his intelligence that Cinna had risen so far. Now he went to the right parties and knew the right people. He didn't ask questions, one couldn't be so crude, but many would tell stories, especially when the drink or drugs came out.
And the strange, slightly mad controllers of Capitol life didn't know their new Stylist was using them. Every bit of information he picked up was filed away mentally. Each small piece of knowledge about the Games and the government could be useful.
In small back rooms at night, tiny groups met, murmuring heresy and sedition. This one knew a Governor, the other knew an Avox who could write and remembered more than anyone thought.
People were caught, people were killed, but enough of them kept their secrets and stayed alive. The resistance would never end until the Capitol did. This was one of the only beliefs Cinna had left.
He looked in the mirror and smiled. Let them think he was beautiful and harmless. By the time they realized the truth, they would be on their way down.
