He wore his history like a map on his body. The arm that wasn't his with the tattoo he hadn't had to endure surrounding it, the 'x' across his face that had given him his most infamous name, the counterpart of his brother's tattoo he had pieced together on his own.
People had stared. Children had asked. All across Amestris and back home to what remained of Ishval.
The scars and tattoos had plotted once a path of fear. They came to be the borders of distinction and respect.
The children growing up in Ishval now had known him no other way. "Teacher," they called him, and never shied away.
