[July 16] [Fullmetal Alchemist] When the War Came, the War Came Hard
Title: When the War Came, the War Came Hard
Day/Theme: July 16, 2012 "When the war came"
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
Character/Pairing: Scar & his brother
Rating: PG
"'To quell an uprising rife with unpatriotic spirit?!'" the young priest read out the statements that enraged him so, "'For the protection of the Ishvalan people?!' Is that what they're calling it?"
His brother should have joined him in his outrage. He should have stood up and shouted. They walked the same streets, they saw the same impositions- the rationing, the curfews, the suffering. Not only did they see the same things, they saw them together. He had always known his older brother to be kind and compassionate, so why did he do nothing but retreat into the sanctuary of his papers and books?
Papers and books, wisdom and words, none of these things had prevented the initial conflicts from escalating. "I have to work faster," his brother said in a soft voice meant only to spur himself onward. "…If I only had more time…"
Nothing would come of scolding his brother. He would go to the temple and do his best to channel his rage into useful action.
It didn't matter who he was though, it didn't matter what he did- one man couldn't win the war.
