[October 4th] [Original] A courtly conversation

Title: A courtly conversation
Day/Theme: October 4: Why do you sleep with girls?
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Belle/Diana
Rating: PG-13
Author's Note: This takes place in the aristocratic fantasy world of a Rococo painting.

“If you’re so proper, why do you sleep with girls?” The princess Belle stiffened. Diana’s directness never ceased to take her by surprise. She had no qualms about questioning her lady, at least in private.

“Last time I checked, there was only one of you,” Belle evaded, her lady-in-waiting’s cheekiness shocking her out of her courtly manners.

“Well, with me, then. I hardly seem to be worthy of your interest,” Diana clarified, a hint of self-deprecation in her voice. But Belle was not feeling generous.

“Maybe it’s only because you found me by the road, and in my desperation, I was overcome with feelings of gratitude and such passion of relief that I forgot myself,” she replied mockingly. Diana’s eyes widened in shock, then she looked away.

“Maybe I should have left you there,” she whispered, pulling away to the far side of the solar.

“Maybe I sleep with you because you are warm. This palace is very chilly at night.” To emphasize her point, she pulled the distraught Diana onto the pillows that lined the solar, and slid her hand down past the ruffle of her lover’s shirt to feel the warm skin underneath. Diana gasped at the sensation, placing her hands over Belle’s.

“Then that will be enough for me.”
