She stands on the precipice of a great adventure, a leap of faith into the swirling white clouds of the unknown. The wind whips her hair, and her palms sweat, and her heart beats a frantic staccato mantra in her chest: baBUM-baBUM-baBUM.
           
He takes her hand in his, squeezes it, grips it tight (I’ve got you). He smiles at her and his eyes are bright and fearless. His lips move—she can’t hear him over the sound of the wind or her own wild heartbeat, but she can trace the path those familiar lips forge and understand the meaning: You can do this. We can do this together.
  
Eyes wide, adrenaline pulsing, she looks over the edge into the mysterious sea of gray. Nothing is certain—nothing except him.

Come with me, he’d said, on my great adventure. And as they jump over the edge, she finds that this one step is just the beginning they needed.
