July 4 - Original - Smoke and the Shadows.
Title: Smoke and the Shadows
Day/Theme: 4 July – “I'm coming up for air."
Series: Original

Summary: Having a smoke relaxes the mind.
It was the funniest of notions he thought as he inhaled for what seemed the tenth time in the last five minutes, there was no recollection of the times he had ventured to this place – and he knew he’d been here maybe twice before.
He knew he’ shouldn’t be forcing the issue – that the girl would come around to his way of thinking in due time, and he had all the time in the world to kill – and even if he didn’t he’ would make it so. There was an instance where the split second of doubt seized him and then he remembered that yes indeed he still had a pack of 15 smokes left in his back pocket, finding a place for that accursed goodness was a battle in itself, what for his wings taking up the width and breadth of his back.
Sometimes there was a perfect place for everything, and for everything a perfect place.. even his packet slotted perfectly into his back pocket, safe from the winds and the rain that was threatening to buffet down upon his head.. exhaling he relaxed and tuned back into what Daniel was saying .. ah nothing he hadn’t heard before about mankind and its foes and flaws, none were quite what they said or seemed.
