[April 8] [Fullmetal Alchemist] Liars' Work
Title: Liars' Work
Day/Theme: April 8, 2012 "the formal network of the lie"
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
Character/Pairing: Kimblee
Rating: PG
Author's comment: Not directly related to The Sleep of Reason, but playing with that same idea of Kimblee as a detective.
Maybe lies were easier to come by in Central City than truths, because I was getting the distinct feeling that nothing I had been told since concluding my briefing with the Führer and his men was what it seemed to be (and many of things that had been said during that meeting were questionable themselves).
The Führer had been aware of my past professional record as a private detective in South City and he intended to make full use of the skills I had honed on those dreary streets. I had plenty of contacts in the south and some of them had ties that ran into other regions of the country that I could put to use. In any case, I was skilled at using honeyed words and careful actions to forge new bonds for the sake of business. I had made it in the underworld elsewhere, and for all that was said about the dark streets of Central City, I had no doubt that I could wander into them and make it back out alive.
Whatever service the government asked of me, I would happily perform. I was Bradley's man now, was I not?
