Arthas. The name invoked a feeling of anger in him, a burning resentment that refused to be abated. I should have realized, she's talked about him before.

Kael brooded, something he'd fallen out of the habit of doing, simply because it was too difficult to brood when he was happy, when Jaina warmed his heart and his thoughts. Jaina was presently busy, with him. Arthas was only in Dalaran for another day, and he'd wanted a tour. Jaina had invited him, failing to sense the hostility between the pair.

I'm not jealous, Kael thought insistently. Jaina has plenty of other friends, male and female. It has nothing to do with the fact that Jaina is spending time with someone else and everything to do with the fact that Arthas is an obnoxious little--

"Your Highness? Forgive me, I understand that you're mind is often preoccupied with important things, but the children would like to have their turn."

Kael looked down from his perch. A small cluster of children were staring up at him, and the human woman, not a mage, but perhaps one's wife or relative, was giving him a look of almost feigned patience. Damn, he thought, and moved forward. The journey from top to bottom of the slide was quite fast, and he stood up, brushing his robes off. Now I need to find another place to brood.

Kael began to walk. It wasn't often that he walked alone, and he consciously steered himself away from where Jaina might be taking Arthas, which unfortunately left out all of the 'fun' parts of Dalaran, and Kael had no interest in visiting the Purple Parlour by himself. It's still so early, but... this calls for desperate measures.

Laboratory space was at a premium in Dalaran. Only the most serious of researchers were permitted to have a permanent lab, and those that did were always carefully monitored. Realistically, the Kirin Tor could afford to build twice as many labs, but there was something infinitely more valuable about keeping a competitive edge. Where heritage was supposedly unimportant, research was king.
