[Dec. 22] [Suikoden ] Homegrown
Title: Homegrown
Day/Theme: Dec. 22, 2011 "nothing to write about but radishes"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Sasarai & Dios
Rating: G
"Hmm..." It was Dios' way of not sighing.
It wasn't as if Sasarai didn't understand what he meant anyway. The bishop laughed and pushed his drooping sleeves back up over his elbows. His rake waited patiently upright for him as he adjusted his clothes. His personal clothes were better suited for gardening and such than any of his official robes or uniforms, but they still weren't a perfect match for even light farm activity.
Dios didn't approve of it any. This playing at farming was a tedious business. It spoke to how sheltered his bishop had been that such pursuits could amuse him. One should feel fortunate not to be forced into living such a life of hard labor.
"If you're bored, you can put away your tools and go inside for some tea," Sasarai suggested, "I'm happy enough working on my own. I don't want you getting too tired out or feeling tortured."
"I'm not sure that I would feel right doing that, sir."
"Oh," Sasarai shook his head, "I know you aren't nearly as keen on this work as I am. At least take a break, Dios. Write home to your children about what we're up to or something."
"Hmm," the thin, blond man said again. What could he write to them? "My dearest Darren and Catherine: How are you? I am doing fine. The bishop was interested on taking me along on a small vacation. We visited the hometown of one of his servants not far from the capital. And once we were there, I learned more than I ever wanted to know about onions. And peppers. And radishes. Trust me, your father will never desert government work to go be a farmer. I wouldn't recommend it to either of you. Stay in school- love, your father."
"Dios? ...Having a bit of a daydream, are you?"
"Ah," Dios shook his head, scattering the imaginary missive to the wind, "Not at all, sir."
"Are you all right?"
"I will be staying out here," Dios declared sternly, "I'm certainly made of sterner stuff, Bishop Sasarai, than to stop work now."
"Wonderful!"
