[01 10 2005] [ORIGINAL - The Angel Project] Pops
Title: Pops
Day/Theme: 01 10 05 - A screaming comes across the sky
Series: ORIGINAL - The Angel Project
Character/Pairing: Lily
Rating: G
NOTE:
This is a continuing AU story, with probably missed days of posting. If that happens, I’ll probably just have to post the rest of the story somewhere else, when there are bits missing to it.
Lily lived all alone in the little town where her bakery was situated. She barely turned eighteen when she inherited the bakery and the building from a close friend of hers, or rather, her grandfather’s.
The friend and her grandfather were Lily’s favorite people when she was younger. Lily would often visit her grandfather and at the same time, there would be his friend, a “fellow man-in-suffering” as Lily later thought in her few years in the town so far. The friend was a man without his own immediate family, it seemed, and made no effort or mention of changing things, at least, to suit something conventional in life. He ran his bakery and his life with well-shaved face, well-combed hair, and rising early to meet the delivery men and demands of his daily customers.
Lily grew attached to this man as a granddaughter would, and so considered that man and her own grandfather as her two “Pops”. When Lily was sixteen her grandfather died and was left with her other “Pop.” “Pop” said that he would always welcome Lily’s visits if she wished. She kept visiting and life went on, where “Pop” would show her how to bake, get around town, and enjoy life in his shoes. It was through this experience that Lily was rather prepared for the task of taking over, despite the short notice.
At eighteen years old, she went to pay a visit and the mayor of the town approached her as soon as she arrived in the driveway of the place. She came away with a deed and a letter; then came back with her bags in tow. In her mind, she was prepared to leave her old life, and start anew.
Now, three years after she started, Lily was becoming aware of the growing boredom in her mind about what her options were like. Yet, before she could do anything about it, she heard one sound on a particular night that sparked her to run out of her house and change her life.
