Day/Theme: 5. The ‘me’ that you wouldn’t want to see

Character/Pairing: Rorschach

He had been able to differentiate between Walter and Rorschach long ago, and then between the Rorschachs before and after the summer of 1975. He had also noticed early in their career that the line between Daniel and Nite Owl wasn't nearly so deep and wide a chasm. Maybe that was why Dan had been so comfortable unmasking, It had upset Rorschach in the beginning, but he had accepted Nite Owl's trust in him.
He also noticed that now that he had seen under the cowl, he could recognize Dan's weaknesses in Nite Owl now. It might have been in his own mind, but he didn't want Nite Owl or anyone else to be able to see any sign of weak, uncertain Walter in him. He wanted that left behind, even if there was only the shape of broken man left.
