Rating: PG-13, depressing (spoilers for this old game!)
Author's comment: drabble. The title refers to The Decemberists' song of the same name.
Chaltier and I had long been of one heart, if not of one mind. And I would like to tell you that we died together, entombed by water, and were thusly united, his blade interspersed with my bones, but Swordians are hardier than that. So, instead, know this- I died that day and Chaltier, powerless to help me, looked on.
As the years passed, he was as powerless to leave our silent mausoleum. Our only visitors were tiny fishes, swimming soon enough in and out of the gaps in my ribcage. I became but memory; Chaltier survived into another age.
