After the war in the Grasslands- he could only think of it as abortive, an utter fiasco for nearly every party involved- Sasarai could understand that deep need for sleep that drove his father into seclusion for months, if not years, at a time.
Physically, emotionally, spiritually: he was beat. If only he could sleep like his father did. If only he could vanish into dreams like the sleeping princess of that childhood fairy story, until all Harmonia had changed, and his present problems had faded away without one last bit of effort on his part. Wouldn’t that be cowardly? Wouldn’t that be easy?
