“No! This can’t have happened!" Serenity cried out, not moving from Joey’s hospital bed. Marik had just defeated him, and now he lay trapped in the shadow realm.
“What can’t be happening? I’m winning, aren’t I?” Joey asked in the middle of a duel, but only in his dreams. Somehow her voice was reaching him.
“Please, wake up brother! I love you too much.”
“Love you too,” Joey replied, now in the real world.
Serenity gasped. Had Joey just spoken to her? She looked at him again, but didn’t see anything. But somehow, she felt that things would be better.
