[April 30] [Durarara!!/Fullmetal Alchemist] Beach Games
Title: Beach Games
Day/Theme: April 30, 2011 "go barefoot"
Series: Crossover - Durarara!! x Fullmetal Alchemist
Character/Pairing: Kimblee, Izaya, Shiki
Rating: PG
Author's comment: Rough continuation of Out Under the Summer Sun. Thanks for the themes,
demoerin! Thanks for bearing with my self-indulgence-filled month, everyone.
The sand felt warm beneath Kimblee's toes. The heat here was pleasant, a far cry from the suffocating atmosphere he dreamt of, recalling the war.
"It's not like you to be late," Shiki expressed his disappointment.
"He would've been on time, but it turned out he wasn't properly prepared and had to go back and get some things," Izaya explained. He sent a sly glance Kimblee's way as if to remind him that if he felt like it he could easily embarrass his colleague with the tale of how naive and awkwardly attired he had arrived at the seashore (Kimblee would not forget).
"Fine," Shiki shook his head. He'd accept that sort of explanation from Izaya more easily than he would from Kimblee. Izaya had a reputation for doing good work to back up whatever activities he chose to get up. It wasn't proving as easy to integrate Kimblee into the Awakusukai as Shiki and his other immediate superiors had hoped. He had useful enough skills, but his background and personality tended to warp his performance into something other than Shiki desired from him.
"C'mon, Kim-tan, I know something you're going to be great at," Izaya pulled him away from the potentially icy conversation that might ensue between the two older yakuza men to an open ice chest. Alongside the cans of soda floating in a pool of melted ice was a large watermelon.
Once again Kimblee was presented with a situation he didn't immediately understand. He kept his silence, waiting for Izaya to give him some kind of clue rather than tripping over his own words.
"What you do is put the watermelon out on the sand and people put on blindfolds and take turns trying to go break it with a stick."
"That sounds ridiculous," Kimblee said.
Izaya did not fail to notice that he was smiling anyway. "I suppose it's not exactly against the rules for you to do it with your hands."
"I hope you have no objection to getting a little sticky." Maybe it would be fun. Kimblee stretched his arms and cracked his knuckles.
"Not with you I don't, Kim-tan," Izaya smirked.
