[April 19] [Durarara!!/Fullmetal Alchemist] I'll Be the Lead, You Be My Costar

Title: I'll Be the Lead, You Be My Costar
Day/Theme: April 19, 2011 "thought I'd be treated like a movie star"
Series: crossover - Durarara!!/Fullmetal Alchemist
Character/Pairing: Orihaya Izaya & Solf J. Kimblee, Shiki
Rating: PG

"Ah, I didn't realize the yakuza were into tattooing their hands too these days," Izaya remarked. "I didn't think they wanted to be that obvious."

Kimblee wasn't surprised the information broker had noticed. He wouldn't be much good at his chosen profession if he didn't have a keen eye and a keener mind. The thing was, the alchemist would only give the younger man so much credit for something he had wanted him to see. "The tattoos are personal," he explained. It felt good telling Izaya just enough to pique his curiosity. Even if there was much more he wanted to know, he wouldn't be so gauche as to come right out and ask it. Kimblee looked forward to seeing how much information Izaya had been able to dig up about him by the next time they met.

For the most part, his new position within the Awakusukai suited Kimblee just fine. Perhaps his only complaint of any substance (he was still unused to Japan and its customs, but that unfamiliarity would be overcome soon enough- he was not one to stay homesick) was that he was expected to maintain a lower profile than he had in his past job. He enjoyed going about his work in a somewhat flashy manner, but Mr. Shiki had frowned upon his antics. "Leave the overwrought pyrotechnics and that gentleman killer attitude to the movies."

Izaya didn't mind his theatrics. If Kimblee was reading him properly, the alchemist believed Izaya possessed something of a flare for, and attraction to, such overblown activities himself. Maybe there was a chance they could continue to work together. It would be like a game, Kimblee imagined, all carefully plotted conversations and masterful social gambits and showing off as they walked the edge of danger.

He was sure that Izaya would go for it. If Kimblee was the lead in this movie of underground urban life, there could be no better costar. ...Of course, he already knew enough to plan on letting Izaya believe he was the star.
