Shouji
Shouji held his teacher’s hand, waiting for his return from his rest, begrudging even this little time he was away.
The timekeeper was counting out the game in seconds now.
"Shouji."
"Tanuki-jiiji." It was their joke and even now the old man smiled of it.
"I want you to have something…" Shouji took the old, well-loved fan from his teacher. "It’s right that you have it."
"Sensei…"
"It’s your time now Shouji. I know that you’ll make us proud."
"Sensei…" Shouji couldn't say more.
"...Touya...?"
Shouji shook his head.
"Then tell him…. for me..."
"......Sai....."
Then he said no more.

Author's note:
My aplogies for the somewhat cryptic nature of this drabble. I hope that the following notes will shed some light on the identity of the two speakers.
Shouji, one of the young characters introduced in the last chapter of the Hikaru no Go manga.
This drabble assumes that some amount of time has passed since the end of the manga as Shouji has acquired a Go teacher/mentor whom he is very fond of as evidence by the use of his nickname and his distress arising from his teacher's imminent death. Additionally, it might be assumed that Shouji, a character who in the manga as an insei is portrayed as quite a fan of Shindou and later develops an appreciation for Touya's strength as well, continues on to become a very strong player in his own right, someone whom the "teacher" respects enough to acknowledge by passing on to him his "fan" as well as his hopes for the future, somewhat of an important theme brought out at the end of the manga.
Tanuki-jiji, a cunning old man.
In this drabble, Tanuki-jiji is Shouji's nickname for his teacher who on his deathbed, gives to Shouji, his beloved folding fan (an item that this character has become quite famous for carrying with him as he plays). This character then asks about Touya before passing away, his last word/request being "Sai."
