You've got to be strong, you tell yourself. If you let yourself give up and fall apart, what do you expect Al and Winry are going to do? How can you ask them to shoulder this burden if you can't carry it yourself? You were the one who brought them into this mess. That man may've started it- sending everything to hell, but you've down a pretty good job of finishing it. How much metal has to encase you before you finally learn? How many of the ones you love do you have to bring to their knees before you stop doing things wrong and start doing something right?

Someday, you're going to be the sort of man (husband, father) that he never seemed to be. When people are depending on you, you'll be there. You'll be like a pillar, a rock, stubborn and strong.

And someday, this will all be resolved, you know? You believe it. Really. (Even if you didn't believe it, you'd have to tell yourself so. Sometimes saying is as good as believing. There's a definite path between the two.)

Someday... All of you. You and Al and Winry. It's going to be beautiful. You're going to be free.
