[Jan. 25] [Original] In Orbit

Title: In Orbit
Day/Theme: Jan. 25, 2011 "Satellite orbit"
Series: original (Navigator)
Character/Pairing: May, Stuart, Julian
Rating: G

"Glued to the window, May?" Stuart inquired in his usual calm and friendly way. Julian was with him today, venturing away from his sanctuaries of quarters and infirmary with shiftiness and searching in his yellow, feline eyes. He didn't trust Stuart to protect him from the world and all its thorns- not completely. Still, this was more trust than he had ever parceled out to anyone else, so it wasn't without meaning.

"Look at all those moons," the pilot sighed. She had been daydreaming. She put her gloved finger to the reinforced glass and loosely traced the path that the nearest of the three satellites spun around the planet. "It's so cool. I think that the sky is sort of prettier when there are more things out floating around in it. Ha ha, I know, if Earth got another moon it would do crazy things to the tides."

Julian wondered about this girl, what with the way she managed to starting talking and then just go on and on without anyone else contributing to the discussion. She was a funny one, that much was sure.

"It is pretty," Stuart agreed, "They're so white. Like pearls."

As the chaplain moved closer to May and the window, his companion stepped nearer as well along with him, although he didn't say anything. To Julian, these foreign moons were only moons, neither attractive or unattractive.

"Hey, are you just hear to follow Stuart around or are you gonna say hi to me too, Julian?" May teased him.

"Hmm? Uh, what?" He was surprised she was addressing him specifically all of the sudden. All he wanted was to be out and about alongside Stuart while blending into the background.

"Your orbit's so strong, you've sucked in a satellite of your own," May informed Stuart, always glad to have a quip to pass on to the chaplain. Stuart didn't laugh too hard (he didn't want to hurt Julian's feelings), but as May had expected, he could be counted on to laugh at her corny jokes and comments.
