[Jan. 23] [Suikoden III] Call Them Back In Here!
Title: Call Them Back In Here!
Day/Theme: Jan. 23, 2011 "little bit of feel-good"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Sasarai & Dios
Rating: G
Sasarai's heart really wasn't into this. He wished he could just pass these papers down the line without reading them over, but it would've been hugely irresponsible (and if Lucas Orsini caught wind that he wasn't reading his paperwork anymore, he would probably try and send some ridiculously Orsini-friendly bit of law through the pipeline). So he had to do his job properly. That didn't mean he was going to do it quickly. He was going to dally as much as he felt like.
Of course, there wasn't much to properly distract himself in his office. Nika was doing too good a job of cleaning up and taking out unnecessary materials. There was no view to the outside, so Sasarai had to settle for staring out into the hall, watching whoever went by. Father Asa, Hikami's daughter, Mother Dana and some associates...Boring, boring, boring. He saw these people day in and day out. Fine. If the universe wanted so badly for him to work, he would work.
...Well, for a little while. The bishop sighed and doodled on the margin of his date book. He looked back out into the hall. Dios was out there now. He was waving as a blond girl and boy walked away, headed toward the main entrance to the Temple.
It took a moment for the identity of the children, based on the backs of their heads, to dawn on him. "Those are your kids!" Sasarai put down his pen and jumped up, away from his work and his desk. "Dios!" he ran out to meet his chief of staff, "Your children were visiting? They should stay longer! Call them back in here!"
"Ha ha," Dios laughed. It was a bittersweet feeling. He had been glad to visit with his children (he didn't see them nearly as much as he would've liked since Kina had moved them back to Campanella), but each encounter reminded him of how far removed he was from his family. "They're only in the capital for a little while, sir. They have to go back and meet up with their mother, so I can't."
"Ah. Well, I'm glad you were able to see them. ...But I wish I could've talked to them a bit too. I would've taken all of you out for ice cream."
"Your treat, eh?" Dios raised an eyebrow. "Bored, Your Excellency?"
"Oh, am I ever!" Sasarai huffed.
