[Jan. 17] [Suikoden III] I Have a Point to Prove
Title: I Have a Point to Prove
Day/Theme: Jan. 17, 2011 "You're a devil meaning well"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Sasarai & various Harmonian associates
Rating: PG
"Oh, I see, so he's a devil meaning well? Or is that a saint meaning badly?" Richard prattled on, "I've heard they're rather close to the same thing." He raised his eyebrows pointedly in the direction of the bishop who was here as his guest.
Sasarai proved himself to be as placid as they said. He barely raised his eyes at these pointed words regarding his character. He didn't want to be like so many of his high-ranking colleagues. He believed in the right of these rebellious men to speak their minds about the government and its officials, even right in front of him, so it that meant he would have to sit here and take it.
"Sir?" Dios inquired, his tone pointed, his outrage barely contained (he didn't quite believe in the same rights of man as his bishop did- or at least not when they applied to speaking thusly of a man who was present). He wanted Sasarai to give him the word. He wasn't armed, but he trusted in his fists to do the job in a case like this. "...Sir?" he repeated after what he considered a long enough pause. He wanted that command more than he ever had before. Dios was slow to start a fight, but he was, ultimately, no stranger to violence.
The bishop shook his head. This was a command he refused to issue. He could not, despite himself, condemn all violence, but by turning hypocritical, he would only prove himself to be of that devil's company that these wild-eyed so-called "Progressives" deemed him united with. He could not speak for his father, nor for the rest of the Counsel, but he could and would speak for himself. He believed in the possibility of change in Harmonia. He believe in the innate goodness of mankind. First and foremost, he would have to believe in himself.
