[4 OCT] [CODE GEASS] [LAWS OF ATTRACTION]
Title: Laws of Attraction
Day/Theme: 4th October 2010; given the scalpel, they dissect a kiss
Series: Code Geass
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Lelouch, C.C.; Lelouch/C.C.
Rating: K+
Notes: Set sometime after Turn 4.
"So, C.C.. There's something, while not exactly crucial, I'd like to discuss all the same."
The individual in question didn't even bother to look up from the magazine she was reading. "Oh? I'm surprised you can spare the time for small talk. Don't you have a rebellion to organize?" she asked mildly, her attention absorbed by the silly articles printed in the glossy publication. Really, if people could bring themselves to believe half this drivel there was no hope for humanity's intellectual advancement.
Lelouch waved it away as if the matter was as simple as deciding what to have for breakfast. "Things are a little calmer now and I'm having a meeting later to sort out some of the more pressing issues. But first, my question."
"It's not like I can stop you, can I? Ask it already, boy," she sighed.
"Out of all the possible means you could have used to restore my memories, is there a particular reason why you chose a kiss?"
Well, she hadn't been expecting that for sure, but she didn't let it show. "Complaining?"
"Oh no, no... just curious. Indulge me, please."
C.C. answered quickly but warily; this was Lelouch, after all. "I needed to initiate physical contact, as you know. And besides, I figured it might help if you re-experienced something that existed only in your memories as Zero."
"Speaking of which..." he began, and the smug tone of his voice rang all the warning bells in her head, "...exactly why did you kiss me that time in the Gawain?"
Damnit, damnit, damnit. She'd walked right into that one. A year of dealing with only easy targets like Kallen had definitely rusted her skills. At that moment she was particularly glad he couldn't see her face and vice versa. "I don't remember needing a reason to do whatever I want," she responded evasively.
"You're C.C.. You're messy, stubborn, annoying, willful to a fault and spend entirely too much money on pizza for my liking. But you never do anything without purpose," he countered.
"Well then, my dear warlock, if you must know you were looking so miserable I decided to tease you a little. That's all there was to it," she replied obstinately.
"Is that so? I have a hard time believing that," he answered with wicked delight. The soft squeak of the chair and progressively louder footfalls told her he'd moved towards and come to a stop right next to her. Tired of being on what seemed to clearly be the losing end of this game - she rarely lost, and she hated the feeling - she finally decided to look up and meet his gaze.
"What are you-" The rest of her words disappeared into a muffled exclamation of surprise as he tilted her face upwards and pressed his mouth against hers, executing a near-perfect reversal of their past two encounters. When he pulled away, he had the most arrogant smirk adorning his features. "Well then, my dear witch, consider this my first step in evening the score." Thoroughly satisfied with himself, he stood up and slipped his mask on. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting to attend." With that, he strode out of their quarters before she could summon a satisfactory remark to throw at him.
As the door slid shut behind his exiting figure, the corners of her mouth curled into a wry smile. "I'll make you pay for that, boy," she murmured, even as she brushed a finger to her lips.
