[Sept 30] [One Piece] I Fell Apart

Title: I Fell Apart
Day/Theme: Sept 30 - "show me that and destroy me"
Series: One Piece
Character/Pairing: ZoroxTashigi, ZoroxNami
Rating: PG...because it's suggestive and maybe language?
A/N: Yay! I loved these themes; I was able to get something out every day this month. *happy dance* Now to take a break and focus back on school, lol... Anyway! This short clip is from a high school AU setting I've been tossing around and slowly developing. I think it will end up being mostly from the girls' point of views. Which is different for me, but I like where it's going.

Tashigi practically skipped down the hallway after the school bell announced the end of classes. She didn't have to take the bus home anymore. She had a boyfriend. No more did she have to fight her way through the crowd of students. No longer did she have to worry about losing her glasses or tripping in the hallway and missing the bus because of it.

It was okay to be clumsy now. Because she had a boyfriend.

And he had a car.

So, she was on her way to the band room. Zoro had promised to meet her in that hallway - because his last class was speech, which was located in the same hall. And she needed to pick up her instrument anyway.

It was okay that the crowd moved slowly. She didn't have to worry. She was on cloud nine. The entire day had been wonderful, and she had to admit she had a hard time concentrating in her classes because of the knowledge that Roronoa, the popular 'bad boy' (who was actually so sweet when you actually talked to him) had agreed to be her date for the stupid Homecoming dance.

Yes, she had reason to be excited.

Even with her glasses and excelling grades that marked her as a geek. Even with her cheap, hand-me-down clothes that marked her as 'not rich.' Even with her books and manga - and her anime bag (Rurouni Kenshin design of course). Even with her devotion to the school band as a clarinet player.

Even with everything about her that marked her as 'uncool' or 'unpopular' - he had still said yes!

Reaching the end of the hallway, she turned toward the band hall, passing by the doors that led to the dressing rooms behind the stage. (The band hall was, of course, close to the stage, as were all the drama department classes.) The crowd was thinner. Most of the band geeks were either in the band room or outside or gone already. (Because the seniors and better players got the lucky draw of their last class being band - located just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the student parking lot). The noise of voices and footsteps was dying down.

And as she passed by those doors, she felt her heart skip. "Mmm...Zoro..."

With blood pumping through her veins, heartbeat being all she could hear, Tashigi skidded to a stop and slowly moved to the doors. With trembling fingers she pushed the double doors open and fought the sudden urge to cry.

He was standing there, arms wrapped around the most popular girl in school - the smart cheerleader (such an oxymoron but so true where Nami was concerned). She couldn't see his face, but she could see Nami's eyes fluttering as if in pure ecstasy. And she could see sharp, long fingers digging into the back of his shirt, clawing at the uniform jacket. Nami was pressed against a wall, and Zoro's hands were on her hips, fingers gripping so dangerously low.

Tashigi whimpered and he turned. His mouth moved as his feet and arms pulled away from the slut of the school, but she wasn't listening to him. She was falling apart even as she fought for control. She couldn't hear. Or see anything. Her vision was blurry, tears popping out even as she tried to hold on to them.

But she did see one thing.

Nami was smirking like the devil she was.

From that point on, Tashigi hated cheerleaders with a passion.

And she vowed to never forgive the jerk named Roronoa Zoro.
