[Sept. 17] [Original] I'll Advise You on What You Cannot See
Title: I'll Advise You on What You Cannot See
Day/Theme: Sept. 17, 2010 "violence you can see and violence that hides"
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Sakuya & Ayye, K. Grey
Rating: PG-13
"You see, Sakuya, unfortunately it doesn't work like that. You can't expect me to say, 'Oh, Sakuya, I care too much for you. I would never hurt you,' because of the kind of person I am. Just because I like you...even if I say...loved you, I couldn't say that and mean it. Not for certain." Ayye paced around her as he spoke. His voice rose and fell with its usual charisma. It was his voice, Sakuya supposed, that had captivated people. He had a handsome face, but not one lovely enough to have caused all the mischief attributed to it.
"The thing is, I might like to tell you that and mean it. I might even do so someday...but!" He waved his hands about theatrically, "Yes, there's always a catch, Sakuya! I might say that someday, but you should never, ever trust me to keep my word in that sort of situation. Because I've said this before and failed to stay true to my word." His eyes grew wider, wilder, straining against the constraints of his face, like they might jump free of his flesh and take on a life all their own. "Because I have done it before, Sakuya! With my own two hands I've killed the one I loved the most. And if," he paused and seemed to tremble, "And if I could do it then...with the person I loved more than anyone...Certainly, certainly...I could also do this to you."
"That's...really creepy, Ayye," she managed, rolling the skirt of her pink dress into tight, tiny balls of fabric between her fingers. It was not what he had done that frightened her so much as the way he spoke about it. The shadow of obsession darkened his feral face and Sakuya was left to wonder what part of this story was the cause. Was Ayye possessed and transfixed by guilt or regret for what he'd done, or merely his on inability to be sure to keep his word? Day by day, Ayye revealed himself to be more and more frightening.
Grey, by comparison, grew all the more terrifying by the implication that his violence was a thing he had to hide.
