[Sept. 16] [Fullmetal Alchemist] Transfiguration
Title: Transfiguration

Author's comment: This was inspired by another fic I read, actually. I'll try and dig up the link if anyone's interested.
Oh, how was that? I brushed myself off and looked down into the darkness of the mineshaft. Down below was ebony, but snow trickled in with the fallen debris. Did I hurt you? I smiled but I didn't laugh. Perhaps you even died.
Well, everyone knows that a real hero needs to be transfigured in the course of his tale. Everyone knows that the truest of heroes need to die and be reborn. You're not so legend-illiterate as to be unaware of this, are you, Fullmetal?
I left you to the night, Fullmetal, to darkness and death, because what is the meaning of your resurrection if you cannot conjure it up on your own? I left the pair of chimera who had been my men because they had failed. You, on the other hand, I left because you still had a chance to win. And if you couldn't preserve yourself through this, what would your odds be of tackling the end game, the Promised Day? A tragic end, alone and at my hand. It would be preferable to something quick and mundane, would it not? At least this had drama. At least it had passion.
I lit my lantern and onward I went, to face my own shadows. I thought it was about time for you, Fullmetal. The young man with all the lovely ideals. Time to step up or stand down.
Transform yourself, please. I'm looking forward to it. I'm counting on you.
