[Sept 25] [Final Fantasy VII] Something Like Love

Title: Something Like Love
Day/Theme: Sept 25, What we had I cannot even say
Series: Final Fantasy VII/Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children
Character/Pairing: Rufus/Yuffie
Summary: PWP. Yuffie discovers what she saw wasn't really a ghost.
Rating: NC-17

Foreword: This acts as a pseudo "what if?" combination of Advent Children and a series that I wrote a long time ago called Just Your Average Fairytale. However, reading JYAF is not a prerequisite. Contains spoilers for the end of Advent Children. Read at your own discretion.

It was only in the distance that she saw him. After the fight with Bahamut was over, Cid hustled everyone onto his new airship. In the distance she saw the strawberry blonde hair that she knew existed only on one person. It had to have been a ghost. Her breath got caught in her throat, and she took a step toward him before something jolted her whole system. "Hey brat, come on! Cloud needs us!" Barrett seethed as he grabbed a hold of her hand and began to drag her up the platform of the airship.

After that, she hadn't had much time to dwell on what she had seen. Her one concern was Cloud's well being-- well that and of her precious materia. And when all had become calm again in their lives, or as calm as it could possibly be without being ominous, Yuffie found herself wondering about the mysterious figure she had seen in the distance that day. It was haunting her dreams that he could possibly be still alive. Not the fact that she wasn't beside him, but the fact that he had not contacted her if he was. Always, he always made sure that she was well no matter what was going on. Trips of the Turks coming to "attack", all the meanwhile checking on her well being, had become almost weekly during Avalanche's journey. After the fall of Midgar, however, everyone assumed, she had assumed, that they were all dead.

Why hadn't he sought her out to tell her that she had been mistaken? Didn't he care any longer? Perhaps he didn't want anything to do with her anymore. After all, it had been she that had done the leaving last time they saw each other face to face. Or maybe, and the more likely, was that she had simply seen a sprit. Her mind could have been playing a nasty trick on her, and she hadn't seen anything.

All of her wondering, however, was ended a few weeks after everything had settled. One night in Tifa's bar Cloud came up from behind her and whispered, "He's alive." There was no need for an explanation on whom, for they both knew of whom Cloud spoke of.

Yuffie whirled around on her stool and looked at Cloud with wide eyes. "How... where..." she stuttered, her mouth hanging open.

"I assume he's back at Healin again. That was where I last saw him." Cloud then explained to Yuffie all of the events leading up to the attack from Kadaj and his "brothers."

As he was relaying everything to her, Yuffie's mind raced. After all of this time, he really was still alive. What would she do? What would she say? Could she even face him after the heated fight they had before she left him for the last time?

When all was said and done, all Yuffie could manage was a whispered "Thank you..." and gave Cloud a peck on his cheek before leaving the bar. Waiting until the morning was not an option. She had to see Rufus again that night.

In the darkness he was waiting. For what, not even he could be sure. A new era, perhaps. He couldn't lead the masses forward quite yet. Although the Geostigma was now clear of his body, he had not fully regained all of his strength. Whether it was injury from the destruction of the ShinRa building or a residual of the Geostigma was yet to be determined. Tseng and Elena, who he still had to fully comprehend were indeed alive and well, urged him to see a proper doctor, but he would hear none of it. The last thing he needed was a public scandal on how week and fragile the President of ShinRa had been reduced to. Although his legs still worked when he concentrated hard, walking was another story altogether. He did not want that to be his new public face.

With a deep sigh, Rufus held his face in his right hand, facing away from the window that showed a vast forest bathed in moonlight.

A creak in the floor brought him out of his daze. In the room next to him, he could clearly heard footsteps, albeit soft ones, walking towards his room. Well aware that no one in the Turks could sneak around that softly, Rufus readied himself. Perhaps it was a miscalculation on his part to let the ex-soldier know where he was hiding, but then again the President never thought Cloud to be so bold. The door creaked as it opened. Rufus pulled his gun out from his trench coat and called, "Reno! Rude!" Rufus saw no point in letting the perpetrator know that he could very well protect himself, as he knew that not even Cloud had witnessed what had gone on between the President and Kadaj. Three on one always had better odds.

"I don't think they can hear you after being knocked out," a female voice said, smugly. The light that leaked into the dark room from the open door burst around her figure. He could see that she was smiling.

The President's eyes widened in surprise. "Yuffie... what-"

"Hmph," she grunted, leaning her back against the side of the door. "I've never seen you so surprised. I bet you figured Cloud wouldn't tell me that you were alive."

"What I expected," Rufus said, putting his gun at his side, but not completely away. "Was that Cloud wouldn't want to revive any of your, ah, old connections. As I do recall, he was one of the voices most strongly against our relationship when the proverbial cat was let out of the bag."

"You tried to kill us all," Yuffie crossed her arms against her chest. "It hardly gave you any ground, even though you were nice enough to try and help our cause."

Gesturing with his right hand, Rufus laughed. "I was simply trying to save the planet."

"And your ass."

"Are we going to have the same argument over again, Yuffie?" Rufus tilted his head. Yuffie could see his mako blue eyes shining in the darkness. "As I recall, we have already had this conversation. In fact, I do believe that was why you left me."

Yuffie opened her mouth to protest, but remained silent. With a loud sigh, she pushed herself away from the door. "I suppose you're right. I didn't come all of this way to pick a fight."

"Why did you come? You, of all of Cloud's group, are the last one I expected to see."

"Why is that?" Yuffie asked.

"You made your feelings for me very clear the last time I saw you. I do not see you carrying a weapon, and you have made yourself known, so if it is an assassination attempt, it is the saddest one I have ever seen."

Hesitating for a moment, Yuffie scratched her left arm, an action that Rufus had found ever so adorable in years past. It was easy to pretend that the woman in front of him was not the Princess of the Wutai clan that he had once known every inch of. Her curves were more developed, and she held herself up with more strength. But with the simple action of scratching her arm brought everything back into context. It was Yuffie, and it hurt to see how much she was still the same girl. "I came to see how you were..." she said softly before taking a few steps toward him.

"Do not come any closer," he warned, backing up his wheelchair further into the darkness. "You have seen that I am all right, and even gotten to insult me. Now leave."

"No," she said flatly, taking a few more steps in his direction. "I can understand that you are upset about what happened. The things I said--"

He smirked then. Yuffie could at least see that in the dark, as the moon lighted his whole profile. She could also tell that he was sitting down next to a desk. "Those things... are long forgotten," he said quietly, putting his gun quietly on the desk. "As is what you and I once were."

Standing tall, clenching her fists by her side, Yuffie swallowed the lump in her throat before speaking. "I see. What we had is forgotten. Well then," she turned to leave. "Maybe I was wrong and the man I loved really is dead then." Without another glance at him, she briskly walked out of the office.

Rufus stared in shock. Her words were like daggers into his chest. Although he claimed to have completely forgotten about their endeavor, it was not at all the truth. Since Rude and Reno had recovered his body from the rubble of Midgar, there had been a voice in the back of his mind, pleading with him to find Yuffie and rekindle what was left, if anything, between the two of them. However, he held that desire back, knowing right well what relationship with him could do to her already turbulent life. Not to mention his state of being was not stable enough so that the public, much less Yuffie, should know.

Listening to her retreating footsteps, he was unable to bear them any longer. He could not let her leave him for a second time. Rufus pushed himself up off of his wheelchair; fumbling in the direction that Yuffie had left.

He didn't make it far. As he opened the door to his office, his legs gave out. Yuffie, who was at the entrance door, turned at the noise and gave a surprised yelp.

"Yuffie-" Rufus said, leaning his weight on the office door in an effort to stay standing.

"Rufus!" Yuffie exclaimed, rushing over to his side. She helped him ease down to the floor, his legs limp. Cradling his jaw between both of her hands, she forced him to look her in the eye. "What happened to you?"

"I'm sure you saw Weapon attack Midgar," he said, maneuvering his face away from her grip. "Do I have to explain further?"

"Why did you-" Yuffie continued to hover over him. "Oh, Rufus. I thought you were dead back then," she whispered, tucking a stray hair behind his ear. Before she realized what she was doing, she pressed her lips against his. The two remained there for a few moments, taking in the taste of one another again. Slowly, Yuffie pulled away from the kiss, with tears in her eyes. She whispered, "When I watched the ShinRa building get destroyed, I didn't think about our politics or even my mission. I devastated that I would never see you again. I've missed you so much."

With his thumb, Rufus wiped the tears leaking from Yuffie's eyes. "You should not have come," he whispered back.

"Why?" Yuffie sniffed loudly, trying to stop herself from breaking out into sobs.

"Because," he said, tracing his thumb down her face and gently brushing across her trembling lips. "I did not want you to see me like this."

Yuffie pushed her hands through his hair. Smiling through her tears, she cooed, "Shhh. Let me help you back up." Maneuvering her right arm under his left arm, Yuffie slowly stood up, bring Rufus up with her. "Cloud said that you were suffering from Geostigma. Did the blessed water not touch you? Because if it didn't, I can take you-"

"The weakness in my legs did not occur from the Geostigma that we can deduce," he interrupted as they slowly began to walk back into his office. Rufus took on as much of his own weight as he could without his legs shaking. Still, Yuffie struggled in supporting him up. "But yes, when the rain initially fell, I was cured from the disease. Whether you realized it or not, we were only a few meters away from you and your Avalanche friends."

"I know," Yuffie said, looking in his eyes. "I saw you."

"Did you?"

"At first I thought I had seen your ghost. I hadn't visited Midgar since the accident, so I thought it might have been your angry spirit coming to haunt me."

Rufus raised an eyebrow and looked down at her, "A vengeful spirit? Funny, I remember you saying something about not believing those old Wutai superstitions."

"I don't," she defended. "But I know you, and I knew it couldn't be anyone else." Yuffie switched the lights on in the office. Now that she could see properly, she could see that it wasn't actually an office, but more of a bedroom. Although there was a desk near the window where Rufus had been sitting, and where he had abandoned his wheelchair, on the right side of the room was a large bed, closely modeled after the bed that Yuffie knew Rufus had in ShinRa HQ. How they even got the bed into such a small room boggled her mind. There was a bookcase near the desk, and a small wooden chest next to the bed. The room was completely immaculate. Nothing less expected of ShinRa, really.

"Ah," Rufus said as Yuffie helped him sit on the bed. "So my dashing looks can be seen from that far away, hm?" He said, pushing his hand through his hair.

With a smug smile, Yuffie shook her head no. "No, it's because you're the only person that has such freakishly colored hair."

Glaring, he replied, "It's unique, not freakish. Nothing the President does is freakish."

"Oh really?" Yuffie said, with her eyebrows raised. She bent over, making her face even with his. "So falling for a girl who fights against your company; pretending that you're dead; and then lying to her about how you feel when she finds out you are alive; isn't freakish, Shachou?"

"Are you trying to be annoying, or have you become more irksome since I saw you last?" He asked with a sly grin on his face.

Yuffie leaned in so her nose was touching his. "Maybe a little of both. I've got to make up for lost time and your lacking wit." The last words she pronounced in the same haughty tone that Rufus used constantly.

"That is enough," he replied, wrapping his arms around the small of her waist. With the shift in weight, Yuffie lost her balance and fell towards the bed. Now both laying down on their sides, Rufus brought her body in close to his, their pelvises touching. "I suppose I have to teach you a lesson," he said his grin becoming even more devilish. Running his hands up from the small of her back, he slipped his hands under the back of her shirt. Yuffie shivered as his cold hands made contact with her skin. "You cannot possibly be this warm with so little clothes on," his whispered hoarsely, his lips inching towards hers.

"And you can't possibly be so cold with so many clothes on," Yuffie replied, her free hand tugging at Rufus' white trench coat.

"It is because of a lack of bed company," Rufus replied. Finally, he pushed his lips against hers once more, pushing his tongue boldly into her mouth.

Letting out an approving moan, Yuffie pushed her right hand up his chest. Slowly, she pulled away from the kiss and retorted, "So that means you've been celibate for two years? I didn't think you could last. I remember," she said, pushing a finger lightly against his lips. "'I could find plenty of other women!' was one of the last things you yelled before I left."

"Ah, but none of them have your charm," he said, stealing another kiss from her lips. "Or your nice derriere," he added, cupping a hand around the ninja girl's small behind. Unable to play the taunting game any longer, Rufus began to devour her lips with soft, quick kisses. He wanted to taste her skin again. He wanted to steal her warmth and wrap himself in her scent once more.

"Rufus..." Yuffie said in-between a constant stream of kisses. "Rufus, we can't do this-"

He had now moved to kissing her neck, tickling her skin with his soft lips. "And why can't we?" Planting a kiss on the hollow of her throat, he added, "We are no longer enemies, there is no dire mission that needs to be completed ..."

"But Reno and Rude..." she let out a moan as Rufus slid his tongue in the area he had just kissed. "They're going to wake up eventually."

Moving lower, Rufus kissed right above the material of Yuffie's undershirt. "It would not be the first time they have heard you, love."

"But the door is wide open..."

Letting out a sigh of aggravation, Rufus looked up at the younger girl and glared at the interruption. "Then close it." Kissing her on the mouth again, he added, "That is... if you can get away from me." Tightening his grip around her, he brought her in close enough for her to know that he was already hard and ready.

It took everything Yuffie had to push herself away. Her legs shook as her feet made contact with the floor. Walking would take some work, she realized, trying to take a step, and almost falling over. After a few steps putting one foot in front of the other became a little bit easier to do, and she finally made it to the door. Closing it behind her, she leaned her weight against the door, looking at the President who was still lying on his bed, waiting for her. He propped his head up, looking at her in a devious, and anxious, way. Shivers once again went up Yuffie's spine. She leaned over and began to untie one of her boots.

"What are you doing?" Rufus asked, bemused.

Yuffie slipped off the first tall white book and began to untie the other. "Unless you want to be bruised up by my boots..." she replied, not breaking her concentration on pulling out the white laces. "Then I have to take them off ." Haphazardly, she threw the other boot aside and rushed back over to the bed in her knee-high stockings, tackling Rufus. The bed squeaked loudly as the both of them bounced up and down.

"You know I can take a little pain," he replied. "I think you were just stalling."

Nodding mockingly, she smiled. "Yes, Rufus, that's exactly what I was doing." She traced her hands under his shirt and pushed up his chest. "Because I absolutely can't stand to touch you like this." Yuffie leaned down and kissed him deeply on the mouth, probing her tongue into his mouth.

Rufus pulled away, a smile on his face. "Somehow, I think you are lying to me, Kisaragi Yuffie."

As he conquered her mouth with another deep kiss, the two worked together to get Rufus undressed. After slipping out of his white trench coat, Rufus pulled away and pushed himself to sit up at the head of the bed, his back angled against the wall. As he did so, his pants and undergarments, unintentionally, pulled down enough to show his golden pubic hair. It was almost comical to Yuffie how embarrassed he looked when, being a person who has to completely be in control of things, Rufus' pants exposed him before he was ready. She eased his bruised ego by running her fingers through the thick hair, kissing him deeply while doing so.

While she was kissing him, Rufus snuck his hands underneath her sleeveless hoodie, and slipped it off her shoulders. With a shake of her arms, the garment slid down her arms. Tugging on her shirt, Rufus pulled away from the kiss and commanded, "Off."

Yuffie complied, tossing her black top to the floor, revealing a simple black bra. Rufus immediately cupped her breasts, resulting in a loud moan from Yuffie. She lowered her body against his, sitting on top of his erection. A low moan rumbled throughout Rufus' entire being, feeling her so close to him once more. He could feel that she was already becoming plenty wet through her shorts. The foreplay was beginning to become harder to bear. He wanted to be inside her. Now.

Hardly being careful with his garments, Yuffie ripped open both the black vest and white shirt underneath it as Rufus began to plant kisses on her chest. He stopped when he heard buttons fall to the floor, and said, "Give a care for my clothes, love. I know you are an impatient thing, but they are expensive to replace."

Grinning wildly, Yuffie brought his face up to hers. "I'm impatient?" she asked, thrusting her pelvis against his. Both of them let out a load moan as the texture from their clothes brushed up against their ever-anxious organs. Panting for breath, she added, "After two years of wondering if I would ever get to see you again--" Whatever else Yuffie was going to say was lost, as Rufus once again took over her mouth with a deep kiss. Feverishly, Yuffie took the time to unbutton Rufus' final layer of shirts, pushing the black colored shirt off of his shoulders, exposing his bare chest. Inching her legs forward, Yuffie slid her buttocks up Rufus' body, squeezing her knees tightly against his sides as she deepened the kiss. His erection was now firmly against her backside. She could feel Rufus' hand on her back, fooling with her bra strap. Finally, it unhooked, and she felt her breasts become free of the material.

Rufus' hot, fevered breaths resonated against Yuffie's shoulder. He closed his eyes, trying to gain control of his legs again. In their past passions, he had always lead the pace between the two of them, always on top. It was a natural need he had. However, with his legs in the condition that they were in--

"What's wrong?" Yuffie whispered in his ear. How long had he been distracted? Long enough that Yuffie had noticed, obviously.

"It is strange for me like this," he said, leaning his face into the curve of her neck. "I feel..." a long sigh, " Useless."

Wrapping her arms around the President, Yuffie kissed the top of his head. "It will just be different, that's all. A new experience." He pulled away with a scoff. Yuffie gently pushed his chin up, forcing him to look her in the eye. "I don't mind."

"Of course you do not. You-"

Yuffie pushed her lips against his. Pulling away from the kiss just far enough so their noses were still touching, she firmly said, "Shut up," before probing his mouth once more.

Unable to argue with her kisses, Rufus traced both of his hands down the curves of her sides, stopping at the material of her shorts. Yuffie broke away from the kiss, her breathing in fast pants. Teasingly, he slowly moved his hands to the zipper of her fly and unzipped it at an agonizingly leisurely pace. He pushed the both her shorts and underpants down to her mid thighs. Yuffie quickly slid them off, leaving her naked save for her knee-high socks and red ribbon tied around her left arm, as Rufus kissed her abdomen with slow, sucking, movements. Then, he moved his lips to her breasts. Flicking his tongue against the nipples, they hardened instantly. All the while, Yuffie was emitting soft moans, a mix of protest and pleasure. Although unable to gain command of most of her body while Rufus was playing with her breasts, Yuffie managed to pull down Rufus' pants far enough to fully expose his erection.

Pulling away from the torturous teasing that Rufus was doing to her, Yuffie lowered her whole body, positioning herself further down Rufus' legs so she could maneuver her head near Rufus' manhood. It was her turn to make him squirm. Staring at the top of his abdomen, Yuffie rolled her tongue down his well-toned muscles, stopping at his erection. All the while, Rufus' breath was caught in his throat. When she licked the tip of his penis, he shuttered in delight. Licking his lips, Rufus cleared his throat twice before he was able to speak, "Are you finished playing?"

Yuffie licked his tip again, causing him to shutter once more. "Because you are so not enjoying it," she replied with a grin.

"Enough, you naughty girl," he said, curving his hands around her buttocks. Lifting her up, she slid her knees forward once more, positioning herself over his erection. Gently, he slid two fingers inside of her, producing a loud moan from her lips. Exploring her insides with his fingers, he felt his fingers quickly become very wet. She was ready for him. Easing her down, with one slow thrust he pushed himself inside of her. Yuffie let out a wordless scream as her neck quickly jerked back. Her vision blurred with sweat and tears of both joy and pain. Rufus was alive. He was holding her in those strong arms of his again. She could ignore the pain throbbing inside of her.

At this new angle, he felt incredibly large inside of her. With his first thrust up, she could have sworn that he had pushed all the way up to her rips. A loud scream ripped from her lips as Rufus began to quicken the pace. Yuffie moved her knees up, so she was sitting properly on top of him. It made it easier to move along with his mercurial thrusts. She began to scream his name as both began to push harder and faster against each other. It was as if he was trying to force his entire being inside of her. Attempting to silence her cries, Rufus took her lips with his, pushing against her with an almost-bruising force.

Rufus' lust had become almost animalistic. There was no beat between them any longer. Just passion. Feeling herself tighten around him, a sudden orgasm hit her hard. She became completely limp, falling forward and curling her head against his chest. The ninja strength that she prided herself on was completely dried up, however the President continued on. She gave a low whimper in response to each thrust. Finally, Rufus released himself inside of her, with a relieved cry.

Both of them fell to the bed when it was over, completely spent. Pulling her in close, Rufus was contented with simply smelling in her scent. Her usual fragrance of grassy meadows was masked by the heavy scent of sweat. He licked off a particular bead of perspiration that rested on the bridge of her nose. Yuffie quietly purred into his ear, running her right hand lightly against his left arm. "So now what do we do?" she asked in an exhausted voice.

"Now we lay here in each other's arms until the sun rises," he replied softly in her ear.

There was a poignant pause. "And then tomorrow?" she asked.

"Maybe we will do this all again," he said, kissing the top of her head.

"Without Reno and Rude with their ears against the door?"

He laughed. "That, my dear, I cannot guarantee. I have to keep them entertained somehow."

"Oh!" She playfully hit his arm. "What good are you?"

Rufus raised an eyebrow. "Judging from your cries a few minutes ago, I would assume very."

Yuffie did not have a reply to that.

PWPs are bad for my brain. Third person sex scenes are even worse. But I have finally written a lemon for this pairing after five years of saying I was going to do so. Excuse me while I go slam my head against my wall now. Repeatedly.
