After the Wallachian army’s retreat, there was nothing to do but wait.
I worried. Not for the army’s return; my sword and my malady hungered for the spoils of war, in a very literal manner. Nor did I fear for Raphael’s safety. How could I, when death itself could not claim him? In the rare event that his skill failed him in battle, Soul Edge’s curse would see to it that he returned.
I feared for my sanity.
I cannot expect mere mortals who have never encountered Soul Edge to understand my plight, but I shall attempt to enlighten you. That insidious creature was not content with ruling our bodies; it wanted our minds, our souls. Raphael dared to rule where Soul Edge desired a servant, and we suffered the full force of its wrath. Unquenchable thirsts, unbearable fatigue, whispered promises of unbelievable power - the temptation to succumb to madness was...considerable.
I feared nothing when Raphael and I were together. But left alone in that endless night, with only mindless puppets to console me...
For two months I endured Raphael’s absence. The third, I set out to find him. I had no choice. I could not live without him.
