Most people, Van had learned, meant "the Score" or "what is contained in the Score" when they spoke of "destiny." When Van said "destiny" he meant the limitless, free fate that he would make for the world, and for himself. There was no special "way of destiny." The path leading into the future was any road and all roads that he chose to follow. Humankind, even a single man, was more powerful than any prophecy.
Each person would be forced to choose for themselves what path to walk. The path to glory or the path to ruin- the path to destruction or the path to salvation. To each of his chosen, Van extended his hand. One by one, enemies becoming allies, allies becoming comrades, six of them accepted. They would walk this road together. They chose the way of glory.
