[Aug. 1] [Suikoden III] Carefree
Title: Carefree
Day/Theme: August 1, 2010 "healed by wind and sun"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Sasarai, Dios, Nash/Sierra
Rating: G
"I think the bishop's starting to pick up a bit of a tan," Dios noted. No matter how much time they spent together on Casimari Island, the warmest spot in Harmonia that wasn't merely desert, Dios would keep his porcelain, upper class coloring. He liked the sea- it's smell, it's sound- but the sun here was more than he could take during the summer. It felt like it was burning his skin after mere minutes of its touch. He kept back with Nash and Sierra under the shade of a tree or umbrella.
Sasarai, on the other hand, would not move from the sun's hot embrace. Before they had come to Casimari, he had complained frequently of the cold. The resident doctors at the Temple, both Miyo and Saga, had not been unable to uncover any particular reason why this might be, which basically meant there was no underlying physical malady. It was emotional or psychological, depending on how you wanted to look at it. That was how everything was with Sasarai these days. He had turned away from his love of plants. When he touched them now, they wilted. Actually, Dios thought, he seemed like a delicate flower himself these days (albeit one without roots), wanting nothing more than to soak up the brightest sun he could find.
The bishop's chief of staff looked over at his spy colleague. Perhaps there wasn't much to be said about Sasarai's added color, but he had expected at least some form of token response from his companion. Nash was busy canoodling with his wife, pinned down under her sleek and svelte white form, looking for all the world as if he didn't have a care in the world. Dios let out a sharp "hmph" and looked away. It wasn't that he really had anything against Nash having a good time, or love, or even public displays of affection, but they had come here for Sasarai, to see to his health and general well-being. It wasn't just meant to be a carefree vacation.
Yesterday had been exactly the same. But, of course, inevitably, even when Sasarai noticed, he just didn't care. "It's nice," he would say, "That Nash and Sierra are able to have such a good time together out here. I'm happy that I could bring them to a place they usually wouldn't have a chance to visit."
Whether the sun and sea and wind were doing any good for Sasarai or not, Dios just couldn't tell, but for Nash and Sierra, it was easy to see the pleasant side effects.
