[7 July] [Avatar:TLA] Leave Mai Alone

Title: Leave Mai Alone
Day/Theme: 7/July: The girl with colitis goes by
Series: Avatar TLA
Character: Mai
Rating: G Set after events in the Boiling Rock part II

"Hey, Lee, who's the new one?"  A dark balding giant with a ragged scar down one side of his face and a ferocious walrus like bristly mustache growls to his cell mate, seated across him at the table.

"The dark haired one?  Who walks around like something crawled up her ass and died?"  His companion grins broadly, exposing a mouth filled with yellowing teeth.  "Nah.  You don't want to touch that one."

"Who says whom I should or should not touch?"  The giant roars, flecks of food spewing out of his maw.

The other inmates ignore him pointedly, scenes like this being all too common in the Boiling Rock.

"Suit yourself buddy.  It's your funeral."  Lee carries on eating as as the giant strides towards the newcomer.

One of the younger guards watching the scene from the doors makes as if to unsheath his sword.  His companion, a knowing smile on his face, places a warning hand on the younger boy's shoulder to stop him.

"Heya little lady.  Need some company?"

Slitted golden eyes look up at the giant from under heavy bangs.  She looks back down at her food and continues picking at it listlessly.

"No, thank you."

The giant reaches a paw over to pull her into an embrace.  "You look lonely.  I can ..."

He never quite manages to complete the sentence.  Before he can even blink, he's been jabbed in the solar plexus, flung over her shoulder and on his back on the ground, a sharp tin plate just digging into his windpipe.

"I said no.  Which part of no did you not understand?"  Mai stands over him, alert and ready for any stunt he might pull.

Snarling, he tries to get up, her eyes narrow dangerously.  The pressure on the plate increases causing him to choke.  Little bright flashes of light start invading his vision.

Then the pressure is released suddenly, leaving him gasping like a fish out of water on the floor.  Mai steps away, cleaning her hands off on her rough prison garb.  Looking around at the dining hall in a silent challenge, she stalks off, bringing her utensils back to the wash basin to clean up.  There are a couple of pointed snickers from the watching guards but they don't intervene otherwise.

A couple of other prisoners drag the gasping inmate back to his bench.

"Told you not to touch her."
