[3 JULY] [PANDORA HEARTS] [WILLFUL IMPRISONMENT]

Title: Willful Imprisonment
Day/Theme: 3rd July 2010; don't shake me loose of her
Series: Pandora Hearts
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Oz, Alice; Oz/Alice
Rating: G
Notes: No spoilers.

It was on an unremarkable day that Oz, who found himself dressing in front of a mirror for once, noticed the mark on his chest. That in itself was unremarkable; he'd always known it was there and it wasn't the first time he'd seen it, but... he hadn't actually stared at it recently.

The hand moved again, he mused idly to himself as he traced the elaborate clock etched into the skin just above his heart with his fingers. He should be worried, he knew; it was counting down the time he had left in this world, after all. The amount of time before he suffered his "punishment" of eternal damnation in that hellhole fittingly called the Abyss.

Unless, of course, he terminated his contract.

The boy snorted at that. Canceling the contract would save his own skin, but it would also mean sending Alice back there. Alone. That alone would break practically every promise he'd ever made her. Besides, he couldn't imagine not having her with him anymore.

"Oz!"

Speak of the devil.

The heir to the Vessalius name quickly dressed, finishing just in time to be fully clothed before Alice barged into his room unceremoniously. "What's taking you so long?" she fumed. "Breakfast is almost ready and Seaweed-head said we couldn't start until you're at the table!"

A chuckle escaped his lips; nothing riled her up more than food and... well, anything related to not getting said food. "All right, all right, let's go. Sorry I took so long," he apologized as he let her lead them downstairs.

"What were you doing anyway?" she asked curiously, her interest piqued now that she'd ensured she was going to get fed.

"Oh, just thinking," he murmured evasively.

"About what?" she pressed further, prodding his arm repeatedly in some strange attempt to get him to talk.

He looked at her then, and she could not understand what she saw in his eyes. "Nothing. Nothing at all," he answered with a smile.
