[April 19] [Original] Kiss Me, You Fool
Title: Kiss Me, You Fool
Day/Theme: April 19, 2010 "Nothing was ever lost."
Series: Original
Character/Pairing: Jin Rembrandt/Sikae Zelkova
Rating: G
"Honestly, Jin, was anything ever gained by hesitating?" Sikae pressured the serious young strategy student. Their courtship had been proceeding for months now and it didn't look likely to become any less erratic anytime soon. She tried to hook him into something meaningful, anything more than words or those smoldering looks he favored, but it seemed more and more a lost cause.
"I couldn't say." He mused over the question in a far more serious manner than she ever intended him to by bringing it up. "Although hesitating may not have gained anyone a prize, rushing in has brought about many losses. So, if not losing is gain, one can indeed gain through hesitation."
Did he have to do this? Couldn't he ever loosen up and do things simply, like the other kids did? Couldn't he ever stop over-thinking things? "Jin. I didn't ask the question to start a philosophical discussion. I just wanted to motivate you." Sikae flipped open her lavender fan and flipped it back and forth, giving motion to her agitation.
"Sorry, Kae, I just...I tend to think that way," he muttered, casting his eyes down nervously to the book lying open in his lap. Sikae overwhelmed him at times. She was so pretty and cultured. Far too good for a guy like him. He did not regard her attentions as a perk of his studying military strategy, but rather an unintended consequence. He certainly appreciated her affections, but because of the manner in which they had met, he was always left with the unappealing feeling that she was merely using him for some greater goal. ...Which inevitably led to further concerns that he might be merely over thinking things yet again.
"Jin," she leaned toward him. Her lips were glossy with color. He leaned slightly away- did he not catch her meaning? "Jin, will you-"
"That's right!" he announced suddenly, snatching his book into his arms and jumping to his feet, "I knew there was something nagging at the back of my mind! It's my brother! I promised to meet my brother today!
"Good-bye, Kae!" he waved over his shoulder as he rushed off in a blur of brown and blue, "I will see you again later today!"
