Title: Just for a Moment
Day/Theme: April 09, 2010: The end of something
Series: Original (Poppyseed)
Character/Pairing: Jordan Moreau & Elijah Bancroft

Elijah watches his friend quietly, feels the weight of his head on his shoulder and, for the shortest second, wonders if he should try and tame that head of brown strands that Jordan calls his hair.
Letting his mind go off on random strings of thoughts and little tangents helps out a little, curbs the guilt of knowing that he hadn't been there when Jordan had needed him the most. The sight of a bruise on the side of the younger boy's mouth, the bandages across his forehead and covering his left eye...
It kills him on the inside and it breaks his usual calm.
His expression falls but he doesn't care; Jordan is asleep, the television just background noise at that point, and Elijah buries a hand in his hair. All those previous break ups that his friend went through were nothing compared to this - never would be anything compared to this - and he pulls the teen against him a little tighter (careful, because he's sure that there's a bruise or two under those clothes, too). He doesn't want to wake him through pain or rouse him from the sleep that he really, honestly, does need.
"I'm sorry," he murmurs into Jordan's hair, burying his nose into wild, brown locks and closes his eyes.
His own injuries were nothing compared to the kid's and Elijah - just for a little while longer - wants to at least sit there in silence as this chapter of their life comes to its long-needed end.
