Title: Map of Years
Day/Theme: April 1/ Pink ribbon scars that never forget
Series: Pokemon (Gameverse)
Character/Pairing: Pryce
Rating: G
Word Count: 253
Pryce’s chest is covered in scars, large ones. It’s hard to see a Swinub’s claws, but it has them, and they have done their damage, as has the horns of Piloswine. Sometimes he traces over them with his hands when he goes to bed at night, remembering all the old times that produced these marks on his skin.
He considers himself lucky, though. Here he has become an old man despite accidents that could have killed him. And he still has a gym, and those who strive to imitate him.
Of course he is alone. Cyra has been gone… how long is it now? It amazes him that he could ever lose count. But as much as he misses her, being alone isn’t a bad thing. It’s discipline, just like a waterfall.
Nearly every day someone young enough to be his grandchild comes looking for the Glacier Badge. Some are cruel when they lose, telling him they were sure they could beat an old man like him. He doesn’t let it bother him, though. Anyone who would make such remarks can’t be a very kind person, and unkind people raise unhappy Pokemon. No wonder they lost to him. He seldom sees those trainers again for a rematch.
Finally sleep begins to overtake him, and he closes his eyes. How much more time does he have to look forward to? He isn’t sure, but perhaps he will only acquire a few more scars like those that write a map of years on his body.
