Character / Pairing: Katerina!Daisy, her as-yet-unnamed-but-don't-tell-anyone brother
Rating: PG13, character death
“I was told you weren’t stupid.” He sounds almost disappointed. “You never were when I knew you.”
She’s close to ignoring him completely, but -- “What makes you think I’ve changed?”
There’s something in his hand that hisses and sputters and sparks. If she was thinking more, perhaps she’d think to stall deliberately.
“Because,” he says evenly, “you came alone, when you knew I’d probably have to kill you.”
“So who’s the one who can alter reality at her will? Or did someone hit you in the head with a building recently?”
“Of course I remember what you can do.” He smiles -- “But you were never” -- and throws the makeshift bomb -- “very fast.”
This is her breath on the back of his neck to prove she’s there – not having thought about it, no transit time, just there. “You know why I didn’t bring anyone with me?” The words are rhetorical and sweet. “Mortals die.” Her hands twist, once, sharp and decisive. “Like this.”
A loud crack. After a moment, when she lets go, he falls.
Her brother’s body is left for the scavengers, although she doubts if even they could stomach him.
