[Jan 2] [The Princess and the Frog] Full of Pride

Title: Full of Pride
Day/Theme: January 2 / constantly round in this circle
Series: Princess and the Frog
Character/Pairing: Eudora, Tiana
Rating: PG/PG-13

Note: I am not too sure when James died, the only thing I am slightly positive on is that it could have been in 1914-1918(assuming he fought in WWI) and the movie is set in what I believe to be early 1920s... so please bear with me on what I set for James death.

-

Eudora was proud of her young daughter. She always had been. She had braved the news of her father's death with grace at the tender age of 15 and held a steady job (applying for a second) for a year now. It impressed Eudora how much James had impacted their daughter. Hard work was Tiana's life.

Unfortunately, this hard working lifestyle took a toll on Tiana's actual social life.

Eudora couldn't remember how many times she had watched a dashing young man approach their home, asking for Tiana, only to be turned away. Even times where Tiana was on her way home from the bus stop and was being followed by a young boy her own age, asking for a date or two.

Tiana had always said no. Politely turning them down... saying work would get in the way and she had her mama to help around the house.

It was something that pained Eudora from time to time. Her daughter deserved to act like a teenager once and awhile, if only Tiana herself could understand that.

She perked up when she heard the door creak open. Tiana trudged in, dragging her feet painfully. She tore off the apron, falling to the chair before her.

“Nobody told me waitressing tables would be so hard, mama!”

Eudora chuckled. “Well, nobody said it was going to be easy.”

Tiana huffed. “And Jeremy wouldn't leave me alone, again.”

“Jeremy? The young boy who works at the grocery store?”

“Yeah, that Jeremy.”

Eudora smiled, patting Tiana on the back. “Well, I think Jeremy is a nice boy. Why don't you give him a chance?”

Tiana flushed. “Mama! Jeremy is... he's not my type. Besides, I have work to focus on. I'm going to go fill some bath water in the tub, okay?”

Eudora sighed, watching her daughter walk away.

Most mothers would be proud of a hard working daughter like Tiana, and she was. She loved her daughter and couldn't be any more proud than she already was of her lovely daughter.

But she grew tired of the vicious cycle of Tiana turning down boys for her job. It worried her that Tiana would miss out on the most important thing in life... love.

She glanced at the photo on the small table. She smiled at the photo of her dearly departed James. “I hope you help Tiana from up there, James. Our little baby cakes is going to need it.”

Eudora placed a small kiss on the photo, happy knowing her husband would watch over their daughter and surely steer her to happiness.

(THE END)
