[Jan 1] [The Princess and the Frog] Two Left Feet
Title: Two Left Feet
Day/Theme: January 1 / he who is crazy and feeble
Series: Princess and the Frog
Character/Pairing: Naveen/Tiana
Rating: PG-13
It was always a rare treat when Tiana danced, no matter how good or bad she was at it.
He was only sour it wasn't with himself.
Naveen had been jazzing with Louis up on the stage, enjoying the music when he glanced in the crowd and spotted that not only was his love's eyes weren't on him anymore but directed at another man.
The man in question was nothing compared to Naveen. The man's black hair was speckled a little gray, his happy brown eyes protected by spectacles and his wiry frame could do nothing for Tiana, that he was sure of. But to see his wife dancing with another man made his blood boil.
–
Tiana laughed as she danced with an old neighbor of hers. Mr. Wilkins was a friendly guy... He was soon to be gracing 60 and acted as if he wasn't a day over 40. He had went to work with her father and had watched her grow up... so it was nice to see the fragile old man enjoying himself the way he was now. She caught herself from stumbling and Mr. Wilkins laughed kindly at her.
“You always did have two left feet, Little T.”
Tiana flushed at the old nickname and went back to dancing with him. “I didn't have time for all that dancing, it's only natural I don't have rhythm.”
Wilkins smiled. “Yes, and your daddy would be proud of those two left feet. After all, look where they got you. You have your restaurant, you are married to a fine young man... all you need to now is have a bunch of left-footed babies.”
“Mr.Wilkins!”
He laughed at Tiana's rosy cheeks. “Don't tell me Eudora hasn't said anything yet?”
Tiana's nose crinkled. Of course her mother had said something. She had been bugging her before she met Naveen about finding the right guy and providing her with oodles of grandchildren... and now that she had met Naveen and fell in love... Eudora brought up the aspect of kids at least once a week.
It was just hearing someone else saying it was a little... awkward.
Wilkins laughed, he flashed her a grin. “I'm sure you won't disappoint Eudora in the least. Just take your time, Little T. No rush, just enjoy your marriage for now.”
Tiana nearly jumped when she felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and pull her closer to a warm body. But the feeling of said body was a welcomed feeling. She smiled to herself as she shifted out Naveen's arms and turned back to Wilkins. “It was nice dancing with you, Mr. Wilkins.”
Naveen eyed the old man as he waved at Tiana, merely walking away. Naveen looked down at Tiana and felt his heart skip a beat.
Would she always make him feel like that?
Tiana lifted her chin, gazing at him with curious brown eyes. “What's wrong?”
He licked his teeth from inside his mouth before speaking. “I was just wondering how you could enjoy yourself so much without me.”
Tiana resisted the urge to snort, but then eyed Naveen. Though he looked somewhat relaxed, his face looked a little tense and his eyes a little wary. Her eyebrows tried to meet her hairline. “Are you jealous of Mr. Wilkins?”
“Jealous? Why would I be jealous of some feeble old man? I am the prince of Maldonia!”
Amusement filled her eyes and she tried to fight back a smile. “Mr. Wilkins is twice my age Naveen... and he was a friend of my daddy.”
“Oh?”
“Yes. You don't have to worry,” she gently pulled on his necktie, bringing his face close to hers. She smiled at him, eyes lowering to half mast as she eyed him, “I only have eyes for one man.”
Naveen grinned, his own eyes clouding slightly with passion. The space between them disappeared and Naveen suddenly wondered why he had even thought such childish thoughts. And when he felt Tiana try to deepen the kiss he felt that familiar feeling of his heart skipping a beat or two.
Yes.
She would always make him feel like this.
