[Dec. 24] [Suikoden III] Rumors

Title: Rumors
Day/Theme: Dec. 24, 2009 "dreaming of angels on the moon"
Series: Suikoden III
Character/Pairing: Dios, Sasarai, Willem
Rating: PG

"I've heard stories about the women of Alma Kinan," Dios mused over his cup of morning coffee. He generally preferred tea, as did his commanding officer, but, unlike the bishop, sometimes Dios felt something a bit stronger than any tea he knew of was necessary to start him out in the morning. "Let me assure you, Willem, they're good stories," he clucked at the supply sergeant.

"I haven't heard much," Willem admitted, investigating a recently opened bag of cornmeal for any sign of insects (they had been beginning to have a mealworm problem since reaching Chisha territory). Honestly, he didn't care much either, but he would humor this officer. Grasslands women didn't appeal to him. They were superstitious and uneducated. Dios, on the other hand, wasn't so picky about women. It was part of his reputation.

"Well, there aren't any men around their village and I've heard two possible explanations for how they sustain their tribe- first is the theory that they meet with men in the woods, capturing them for the sole purpose of procreation, the other theory is that they don't even need men, drawing on some sort of pact with the spirits or runic magic to conceive."

Willem agreed that theses were both very outlandish stories. It was amusing to observe how excited the bishop's chief aide grew in the telling of them. He was as much a sucker for a salacious story as any young enlisted man. But the whole scenario became that much more engaging in Willem's eyes when Bishop Sasarai entered on the tail end of his story and, eyebrows raised (probably over catching a few choice words like "lesbians"), asked what this conversation was about. Dios' previous bawdiness broke down, leaving him blushing and mumbling with all the modesty of an altar assistant. It was ridiculously comical.

"Really, Dios, I want to know," Sasarai insisted, simultaneously sweet and petulant.

"I was only commenting on the supposed practices of the Alma Kinan Clan, sir. ...Since the chances we might run into their kind are increasing as we near Kuput Forest and all..."

"You would like to meet one of these ladies, wouldn't you, Dios?"

"I can dream, sir."
