Summary: “Mukuro,” Tsuna ordered, “You are the only one available at this time. So I need you to go save Hibari. He might have… failed his mission. We haven’t been able to get in contact with him for a week, and he should have finished his mission a week ago anyways.”

He leaned up against the wall, panting and bloody. Currently, he’s hiding from the enemy. This base, which Tsuna had assigned him to infiltrate because they were threatening the Vongolia, was more heavily guarded than he thought. They have to have some allies with other Mafia groups or something. He was sure they are just a small Mafia group trying to get bigger and bigger, and by doing that, they made allies. “Well, whatever. It doesn’t really matter. As long as they’re all dead.” He mumbled to himself quietly, which, apparently wasn’t the right thing to do.

Someone screamed out, “I think I heard him over here!” And heavy footsteps came his way.

“Che,” He got his tonfas ready and moved out from his hiding spot, “I’ll bite you all to death.” And he charged.

Weeks. It’s been three weeks since Hibari went on that mission. He should have returned about a week ago. Everyone’s worried, though they are all torn between thinking he’s just taking his time, or he failed. But because no one was able to contact Hibari in that one extra week, Tsuna chose the latter.

Right now, Mukuro sat in Tsuna’s office, waiting for an order to be said. But nothing was being said; only the readable, conflicting expression Tsuna was having. He eventually sighed, “I should have never sent him on that mission alone…”

“Kyouya won’t die.” Mukuro said, his seriousness surprising Tsuna.

And Tsuna sighed once more, “I know…” He looked down solemnly.

A change of subject. Mukuro thought, and then said, “What did you need me for?” Though, he’s pretty sure he already knows; it’s to go save Hibari Kyouya.

The Tenth looked up and tried to put on a serious face, “Mukuro,” He ordered, “You are the only one available at this time. So I need you to go save Hibari. I apologize for making you go alone—this is the last thing I wanted to do—but I have no choice. He might have… failed his mission.” Tsuna’s face saddened at what he just said, like he didn’t want to believe it. But then again, no one did. “We haven’t been able to get in contact with him for a week, and he should have finished his mission a week ago anyways.” He looked down, and Mukuro stood.

“I understand.” On his way out, Tsuna spoke.

“Be safe.”

He stepped out of the car and looked around. Oh, so it’s just on the side of the road? …Though it’s not technically on the side of the road—it’s a little ways down, on some sand. Actually it’s kind of surrounded by grass, too. Mukuro started to walk towards the enemy’s base, already getting his weapon out. Then he stopped, sensing something wrong.

The next thing he knew, the whole place exploded, and went up in flames. Mukuro’s eyes widened considerably. He immediately took out his cell phone and pressed the speed dial for Tsuna, number 2 (Because number one was voicemail).

“Hello? Mukuro, has anything happened?”

He took a deep, shaky breath, never realizing this would have such an effect on him, “The whole base just exploded.” The other line went silent. And after a while, Mukuro wondered if Tsuna had hung up, “Tsuna?”

“I-I’m here.” He could hear Tsuna gulp, “Well, f-first, can you see any m-movement through the smoke and fire?”

And Mukuro looked, he tried his hardest, hoping dearly he could see something—someone—move. After a while, he finally spoke, “No.”

Next he heard Tsuna take a shaky breath, just as he had done before, “O-Okay. Then, once the smoke subsides a bit, t-try and get a bit closer, if that’s possible, and… and just wait.” Mukuro could sense the overwhelm, and shock in his voice, like he was trying to hold in his wretchedness of this whole thing, and still trying to believe in hope, think on the brighter side of things.

“Alright,” He responded, “I’ll call you in fifteen minutes and tell you if something happens.” Yes, if. There’s no telling if he’s alive, no matter if it is Hibari Kyouya.

He set the phone down and put his head on the desk, taking deep breaths to try and calm down. Hibari can’t be dead… He just can’t! He’s the strongest! He thinks. And approximately ten minutes later (He wasn’t paying attention to the time, and just went by how long it felt like), Gokudera came in, and rushed to Tsuna’s desk when he saw his head down and his shoulder’s shaking.

“Tenth! What’s wrong?”

His only response was a little sniffle.

He tried again, “Tenth, what happened?”

This time Tsuna lifted his head up. He’s been crying, but it was most obvious he was trying to hold in his tears, “Mukuro called…” Gokudera’s eyes widened, expecting the worst, “The base H-Hibari was at… exploded.” Gokudera’s eyes widened even more, if possible.

“No way…”

Tsuna closed his eyes, “Mukuro should call any second.” And soon enough, the phone rang. Tsuna opened his eyes, “It’s Mukuro.” He answered it, “Hello? Mukuro?”

“Yes, it’s me.”

“Have you found him?”

“Not yet.” Mukuro responded, “But I won’t give up. Not until I see some sign of him being here. The fire is gone now so I can walk around, barely. It’s pretty hard to breathe.”

“…Alright.”

This time, Gokudera spoke up, “He couldn’t have died. He just couldn’t have… He’s Hibari Kyouya! He can’t have died!”

“I don’t want to believe it either, Gokudera.” Tsuna replied.

“You make it sound like he is dead…”

“No, Goku—“

“Wait, what’s that?!” Mukuro cut him off.

“Have you found something?” Inquired the Tenth.

“I think…” Mukuro walked closer and saw a jacket. Hibari’s jacket. He gasped, “That’s…!” He walked closer towards it.

“What is it?” Tsuna asked.

“Hold on.” Mumbled Mukuro, he bent down, and lifted up the jacket a little. It had several holes in it, obviously from being burnt in from the fire and explosion. But what he noticed was that it was slightly outside of the burnt building. So he picked up the jacket, stood up and looked around slowly. Walking a little ways down on the outer edge of the building that’s not really there anymore, he saw a figure, and ran towards it.

The person was laying face to the ground, and he recognized it to be Hibari. “I found him!” Mukuro shouted into the phone.

“Hibari’s alive?!” Tsuna answered back, face lighting up.

“I don’t know yet, but I found him. I’ll call you back and tell you his condition.”

“Okay, bye.” They both hung up.

“I better get him out of here first…” Mukuro mumbled to himself. He carefully turned Hibari over, and winced; Hibari looked dead. But he picked him bridal style, and slowly walked out of the debris. When he got to his car, he set him down on the ground and checked for a pulse. Mukuro smiled, “It’s faint, but it’s there.” His wounds were pretty bad, though—he has some second degree burns all over his body by the looks of it.

He treated Hibari’s wounds, wrapped them up and set him down in the car. While he was getting into the driver’s seat, he called Tsuna and told him what Hibari’s condition was, that he probably doesn’t have everything right and there’s more but he just doesn’t know it, so he’s going to leave it up to the medical team for Vongolia, that he’s going to headquarters now. And that, Hibari is alive.

Through the phone, Mukuro could hear the various people cheering in the background, and Tsuna crying of joy. He smiled once more.

Hibari has been unconscious for almost two weeks now. When the news about Hibari’s mission (which, he actually didn’t fail) got to Dino, Hibari’s lover, he came rushing over immediately. Now, Dino comes to check on him every day.

And this one particular day, when Mukuro decided to visit, Dino was there holding Hibari’s hand, and asleep with his head on the bed. No matter how you look at it, it’s cute. Mukuro thought. Oh, how he wished to be in Dino’s place right now. So he sat down in an extra chair making as much noise as possible.

Yes, on purpose.

Dino woke with a start, and Mukuro couldn’t help but laugh, “Kufufufu… I can see you’re a light sleeper.”

“Huh?” Dino looked around for the voice, and then saw Mukuro grinning at him. He kind of forgot what Mukuro said because he’s very tired, so he just nodded his head, pretending he knew what they were talking about. And hoping he didn’t make the wrong move. Then he remembered something, and voiced his thoughts, “Thank you.” He said, looking at Mukuro and smiling sincerely. And Mukuro seemed to be confused, so he elaborated, “Thank you, for saving my Kyouya.”

Mukuro stood, surprising Dino, and walked to the door. Once his hand was on the knob, he said, “You’re welcome.” And walked out.

But just as he was about to close the door, he could hear Dino saying, “Kyouya? You’re awake!” Mukuro hesitated on closing the door, and eventually, the door shut with a sound click and Mukuro walked on.

A/N: Uncreative title… D: But anyways, there’s going to be another story to this. Kind of like a second chapter. It will be posted tomorrow sometime. :] Edit: I won't be able to finish it in time for posting it today actually. I'm almost done but there's only fifteen minutes until the day is over, and my Mother keeps coming in, yelling at me, "Get to bed!!" Yeah. So it's super annoying and I'm super tired so I'll finish it and post it on Amnesty Day or something. Sorry... D:

Hope someone liked it! 8D
