[Oct. 15] [Original] I'm Being Hypnotized by the TV
Title: I'm Being Hypnotized by the TV
Day/Theme: Oct. 15, 2009 "Tempting me into the garden"
Series: Original (Navigator)
Character/Pairing: Stuart, Yu, May
Rating: G
Author's comment: yes, the title comes from a line of Zorak's in "Cartoon Planet" heh heh...
"Whatcha watching?" May inquired, slipping uninvited through Yu's open door.
Yu and Stuart were perched on the edge of the bed, appearing relatively engrossed in whatever show as onscreen. "CSI: Lincoln," Yu answered quickly without looking at her.
Okay then. Whatever it was, it must've been pretty good if they planned on staying so intent on it. She sat down on the floor beside Stuart's feet and began watching. Some gorgeous actress, probably part African, was poking through an empty apartment. She was wearing gloves and being careful not to disturb what May assumed was the scene of the crime. She found a red powder or sand on the floor. Nothing so special about that, May though, since that's Mars. The ominous music in the background was headed toward a crescendo. Something bad was going to happen. Was the part African woman a major character? Was she going to get killed off?
A sound alerted the CSI to the presence of someone else in the apartment. "Steve?" she queried. There was a twitch of worry in her voice. She knew that something wasn't right. She stood up and as she stepped through the doorway back into the other room a pair of thick arms reached out to grab her.
The abrupt break to a commercial was tempered by the twin gasps of the two men in the room. "Kind of exciting stuff, huh?" May mused, talking over the add for fabric softener showing a soft-looking woman rubbing the extra fluffy sheets against her cheek.
"This is my favorite show," Yu answered, "The new season just started up last week. They've already given me a lot to look forward to."
"And you just find yourself sucked into this sort of thing, huh, Stu?" the pilot laughed.
"Budweiser. Taste you can appreciate. A pedigree you can admire," monologued another commercial, overlapping with Stuart's reluctant admission of being easily drawn into things.
"So, uh, before it's back on," Yu glanced at the commercial promoting a new show involving werewolves to make sure his program had not returned, "Why're you here? Did you need something?"
"Nah, not really. I was just poking around trying to decide what to do and you guys caught my eye."
"Well, you're welcome to stay if you want, but," Yu stopped as the show resumed.
"Have you heard from Fatima? She hasn't checked in in hours," a balding man worried.
"No, nothing," a skinny blond replied.
May wrapped her arms around her knees. There was no reason to rush off.
